Noddy’s Revenge played less than 30 shows in their 3 years of existence in the early 1980’s. Most notably, they were the house band for Burnie’s legendary Big Ears Club, where NW Tasmanian young folk searched for an antidote to isolating industrial town ennui -i.e. bored youth make art and take the piss. Created with unequal parts earnestness, irony, anger, satire, and self-mocking humour, The Big Ears Club gave the band an opportunity to play their enthusiastic post-punk pop and connect with the few local like-minded musicians and music lovers. Halcyon days with comrade pop outlaws in a rock and roll town. By the middle of 1984 Big Ears and Noddy had both had their day and, eventually, the lure of the city just over the Bass Strait horizon couldn’t be resisted.
